The reasons why (and how) BuzzFeed stands head and shoulders above all other digital publishers is not easily answered in a sentence or two.
With 150 million unique monthly visitors, BuzzFeed has skyrocketed in popularity since Jonah Peretti left The Huffington Post in 2011 to dedicate himself full-time to an idea that started brewing in his head years earlier.
In our quest to better understand what makes BuzzFeed tick, we read hundreds of articles, interviews, presentations, and blog posts about the company.
From this research we identified nearly 100 insights the typical BuzzFeed reader probably doesn’t know, and then whittled this collection down into “52 Things You Didn’t Know About BuzzFeed.”
Perhaps not surprisingly since BuzzFeed’s founders and investors have deep expertise in media, our job was made significantly easier by BuzzFeed’s leadership who teased out pieces of their master plan over the past three years.
We hope you enjoy learning about BuzzFeed as much as we did when conducting the research.
If you see any errors or omissions, please let us know in the comments as we plan to continue tracking BuzzFeed’s progress as they (hopefully) drive towards an eventual IPO.
